Moray, Maras & Sal Mines

Many people do not visit this alternative tour that belongs to the Tours in Cusco. Maras you will see the colonial town with its fronts and its traditions; Moray has the semi-circulars terraces that are very famous because are the only one which exist in Cusco trip with this kind of shape. These Inca terraces were constructed for testing various agricultural methods. Built on retaining walls, the terraces were filled with fertile soil and watered by a complex irrigation system, sustaining more than 250 different types of vegetables and cereals, such as corn, quinoa and kiwicha.

Your itinerary starts in the morning. Your private tour guide and driver will take you off the beaten path to Maras, a typical Andean village where the people continue wearing traditional clothing and the town is lined with historical buildings. Next, we will drive you to the incredible circular terraces of Moray, which were used as an Incan laboratory to acclimatize crops. After that, you will have a nice lunch in a local house at a nearby location. Following lunch, you will have an opportunity to visit the Salt Mines of Maras to see and learn about an ancient pre-Incan method of producing salt. After this visit, you will have the choice of either a short 1 hour trek to the Vilcanota River and then we will drive you to your hotel or we can drive you directly to your hotel.
